Dillon Consulting Limited retained CEAC to provide coastal hazard input in this project. Dillion is to carry out the engineering of the expansion of water and sewerage facilities in north Ambergris Caye, Belize. This involved the construction of sewers, 32 lift stations and a new facultative lagoon system. The design of the lagoons extends to Year 2029 with a capacity of 5,950 m3/day. This proposed plant was at or near mean sea level and exposed to the present hurricane wave climate and storm surge. As a result CEAC Solutions Company Limited was commissioned to carry out a detail detailed wave and tidal modelling, inclusive of bathymetric data collection and analysis to assess the extreme storm surge and wave environment for the present and future climate. Our approach involved review of existing studies, new climate model simulations, storm surge hindcast and scenario modelling.
