St. Lucia Multi-Hazard Risk Assessment

Projects » St. Lucia Multi-Hazard Risk Assessment

St. Lucia is historically susceptible to geological hazards such as earthquakes, landslides and volcanic activity and hydro-meteorological hazards such as hurricanes, coastal storm surges and floods. Similar to other Small Island Developing States (SIDS), these natural disasters have resulted in socio-economic instabilities in the island state.

CEAC was engaged by the Government of St. Lucia, under the Settlement Upgrading Project, to conduct a multi-hazard risk assessment with aims of evaluating and quantifying the risk associated with landslides, seismic hazards and flooding and make recommendations for remedial infrastructure works. The proposed sub-project sites wereBexon, L’Abbayee, La Croix, La Ressource, Cendre de Feu, Sarrot and Chopin.. The services provided by CEAC included drainage and water supply designs as well as slope stabilization for all project locations.
